The SIG Launch Meeting took place at the 7th Annual Meeting of the SSECR in Fribourg and was attended by around 50 early childhood professionals from research and practice. The SIG was able to attract 15 active SIG members from various backgrounds.

Objectives & Activities

At the launch meeting, we explored the needs and expectations of our SIG members. Building on their input, we defined four key goals to guide the work of the SIG “Digital Media in Early Childhood":

1.     Collection of Resources for research, clinical practice, policy makers, and parents

2.     Creating a LinkedIn group

3.     Creating an overview on research/ers in the digital media field in Switzerland

4.     Developing guidelines and recommendations

Since the launch of the SIG, we have started working on these efforts, including contributions to “News from Science” published and distributed by Alliance Enfance; an article “Screens and young children:  finding the right balance” to UNESCO’s practical guide “Growing up in a connected world, a family guide for the digital age”; and a workshop at the 6^th Youth and Media Forum on prevention measures in families at risk.

The second SIG meeting is planned to take place at the next Annual Meeting in Bern in 2027.
